Shipping ETF (BDRY) increased by 10% this week as FFA values have improved. Sentiment and FFA values have improved as the spot market has begun to tighten again. Also of note is that today saw capesize spot rates rise by $5,021. This marks the second largest daily capesize rate increase seen since 2010. While the price of the BDRY ETF rose today by 2.6%, the prices of several major dry bulk equities managed to decline. A late day sell-off in the overall equity market was responsible for pulling down the price of many dry bulk equities, but the BDRY ETF does not trade in line with the overall equity market.
