Further Decline in China's Steel Production and Industrial Production Growth

• Data released today shows China's industrial production in August rose year-on-year by 5.3%. This marks the lowest growth seen since July 2020. Crude steel production totaled 83.2 million tons. This is down month-on-month by 3.6 million tons (-4%) and is down year-on-year by 11.7 million tons (-12%). It remains to be seen when the correction in steel production will come to an end. As we have discussed in previous work, iron ore imports rebounded to 97.5 million tons in August and there is a chance that July's 88.5 million ton import total could end up marking this year's low. Global iron ore production has historically dicated China's iron ore import volume.

Seaborne iron ore trade has finally clawed its way back to new seasonal ATHs after the Brumadinho dam disaster early 2019. Decade high capesize rates riding on the back of everything else. Higher iron ore volumes from Brazil will be a tailwind going forward.

Sad ce bit inflacija, tako da svi koji imaju lovu u banci ce izgubit bar 10-15% kupovne moci.. prakticno kao da su oporezovali komplet stednju, tj. ne produktivnu imovinu koju ekipa ne koristi za oplođivanje dalje.

Chinese steel production is way down yet consumption is steady leading to muti-year high steel margins for Chinese producers. This will mean less available for export and high global steel prices. Expecting this curtailment to last through the Olympics.
