ATHENS, Greece, May 07, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Diana Shipping Inc. (NYSE: DSX), (the “Company”), a global shipping company specializing in the ownership of dry bulk vessels, today announced that, through a separate wholly-owned subsidiary, it has entered into a time charter contract with Bocimar International N.V., for one of its Kamsarmax dry bulk vessels, the m/v Myrsini. The gross charter rate is US$27,750 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a time charter period until minimum October 15, 2021 up to maximum November 30, 2021. The charter is expected to commence on May 10, 2021. The m/v Myrsini is currently chartered, as previously announced, to Ausca Shipping Limited, Hong Kong, at a gross charter rate of US$11,500 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties.

Od početka 2021., a posebice od sredine veljače, došlo je do snažnog rasta indexa i vozarina brodova za
prijevoz rasutih tereta tipa Supramax pri čemu je index BSI 58 premašio razinu od USD 20.000 dnevno.
Osim što je napokon došlo do uravnoteženja knjiga narudžbi za nove brodove tog tipa, značajan je i
izostanak inače uobičajenog usporavanja gospodarskih aktivnosti u Kini tijekom kineske Nove godine
uslijed restrikcija na putovanja zbog pandemije. Osim toga, promijenjen je i trend uvoza sirovina, posebice
ugljena u Kinu, koja je svoje uobičajene dobavljače iz Australije supstituirala s dobavljačima iz drugih
zemalja, poput Indije, Indonezije i sl., a što je imalo pozitivan utjecaj na potražnju za brodovima tipa
Supramax, koji su najoptimalniji upravo za prijevoz tereta iz spomenutih zemalja, dok se teret iz Australije
u većoj mjeri prevozio većim brodovima (Capesize). Ovakav razvoj događaja upućuje na pozitivna
očekivanja u ovom segmentu tržišta u narednom razdoblju. -
